Government Plans for a £7 billion Scheme to Cut Manufacturing Energy Bills

In the recent budget, the Chancellor, announced plans of a £7 billion funded scheme to help manufacturing in Britain to cut energy bills.

The move comes as George Osborne admitted that the UK needs to remain competitive or risk losing manufacturing companies as they move out of the UK to overseas locations.

Currently, manufacturing energy bills in the USA are half that faced by UK manufacturers.  As a result, the new £7 billion package will help the industry reduce its energy costs.  What’s more, the package will also see a freeze on the carbon price floor support rate at £18 per tonne of CO2 until 2020.

Such initiatives of the scheme, the Government hope, will reduce up to £15,000 off the price of energy bills for the biggest users.
